Comprising a bureau plat, an armchair and a bibliothèque bookcase; the bookcase surmounted by a spreading breakfront pediment, centred by two glazed doors, one with a paper label to the back inscibed MAISON LALANDE, DEVOUGE & COLOSIEZ Sucrs, 34 Rue de Charenton, PARIS, fitted with four adjustable shelves, flanked to each side by a further glazed cupboard door, fitted with adjustable shelves, on six bun feet; the bureau plat surmounted by a gilt-tooled brown leather writing surface, above three frieze drawers, the central one with conforming label, the back with conforming faux-tiroirs on four square tapering legs, each headed by a Classical female bust, on paw feet; the matched armchair en suite

Lot Essay

Maison Lalande was founded in 1852 and based 57, rue de Charenton.
It was later taken over by the son around 1860, Lalande Fils kept the same address. He was awarded a bronze medal at the 1878 Exposition Universelle in Paris. In 1894 the name changed to Maison Lalande Devouge & Colosiez and moved down the road to 34, rue de Charenton, Paris.
