The Roman and Arabic white enamel dial signed 'AUTRAN A MONTELIMAR', the Swiss twin barrel movement with later anchor escapement, pull quarter repeat and hour strike on three bells, with rack and snail and calibrated countwheel to the backplate signed 'JEAN FRANçOIS AUTRAN A MONTELIMAR': the case surmounted by a putto supported on the back of a boar, above a serpentine casket-shaped base and with a gadrooned border, the sides with trellis panels, the front with a basket and sprays of flowers and acanthus scroll, the base housing an organ driven by a movement with wooden fusee and gut lines, with 9in. long wood pin barrel playing on 14 pipes via a set of bellows, the mounts bearing spurious C couronné poinçons

The C couronné poinçon was a tax mark used in France between March 1745 and February 1749 on any alloy containing copper.
