Each finely enamelled on the semi-eggshell porcelain with three cockerels, one with yellow and black feathers crouching on blue rockwork, another similarly enamelled pecking at the grassy bank below, and a third behind them with white feathers looking up at two large tree peony blooms, all within a wide pale blue diaper band at the rim, the reverse under a deep ruby glaze
