A LOUIS XV-STYLE ENAMELLED SEALING-WAX CASE
probably Continental, struck with the Austrian gold mark for foreign works 1901-1921 and with the French post-1864 import mark for gold
Slightly tapering étui-à-cire of oval section, with six shaped cartouches enamelled in brown camaïeu on a pink ground with nude ladies and Amorini and with musical trophies, framed by fluted c-scrolls, the gold body engraved with panels of scalework and enriched with blue and pink enamelled flowers and with translucent green enamelled leaves on matted gold cartouches, the slightly raised cap enamelled with a pair of doves in the same technique, raised engraved rims and blank matrix
