bearing marks resembling the maker's mark of Dominique-François Poitreau, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost with a date letter 'C', struck with inventory no. 21
Rectangular box, the cover, four sides and base inset with polished gold panels inlaid with abalone shell and mother-of-pearl plaques carved and engraved with Chinoiserie figures in elaborate architectural settings, the slightly raised gold cagework mounts on the sides chased with floral garlands, the pierced silver thumbpiece studded with foiled table-cut and old-mine cut diamonds, wavy flange, the inside gold-lined
