Slightly tapering rectangular étui-à-tablettes with arched top, the obverse and reverse of cover with painted gold inscription Souvenir. D'amitié. on a milk glass ground within a gold and green painted reserve, the obverse of the base centred with a painted scene of a lady writing at an altar of love against a painted gold border and green ground, the reverse with lovers at a tripod against a painted gold and green ground, the two-colour gold mounts stamped with ovolos and leaves, chain and suspension loop; the silver-gilt interior fitted for two-leaved tablets and for four missing further implements probably including scissors, tweezers, an ear-spoon and a pencil
