Oval box, the cover, sides and base of Indian red-lacquer, the cover centred with a glazed oval portrait miniature on vellum of a lady in lace-bordered white dress, blue cloak draped over her shoulders, pearl necklace and blue ribbon and feather in her upswept powdered hair, within a bright-cut gold mount, the gold mounts pierced and engraved with sunbursts between festoons, the interior lined with tortoiseshell
