Oval black tortoiseshell box, the hinged lid centred by a hinged gold plaque engraved with scrolling monogram 'JR' within a sunburst surround, the interior of the secret compartment with miniature of a young lady facing left in pink dress, her brown hair falling in curls to her shoulders, cloud and sky background, the bright-cut gold mounts and incorporated thumbpiece chased with foliage
