A LOUIS XVI GOLD-MOUNTED LACQUER BONBONNIÈRE
with the discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780
Circular lacquer box, the cover painted with a chequerboard of alternate pink roses and foliage on gold ground and blue forget-me-nots on black ground, the sides painted in alternate black and gold vertical stripes, black lacquer base, the gold mounts stamped with a ribbon-twist border, the inside lined with reddish brown flecked tortoiseshell
3 1/16 in. (78 mm.) diam.
