Paris, 1775/1776, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780, maker's mark rubbed
Circular dark green-blue composition box, the independent cover and base inlaid with radiating bright-cut gold piqué posé stripes with entwined green-colour gold foliage, the lid centred by an oval glazed miniature of an officer in silver-bordered blue coat with silver epaulette, frilled cravat and powdered wig en queue, the base with central rosette, the gold rims stamped with stylised acanthus on reeded bands, bright-cut mounts on the side, the interior lined with dark tortoiseshell
