A LOUIS XVI ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH A MINIATURE
Paris, 1778/1779, with the charge and discharge marks of Jean-Baptiste Fouache 1774-1780, maker's marks rubbed, the flange engraved 'Du Petit Dunkerque'
Oblong box, the engine-turned panels on cover, sides and base enamelled in translucent strawberry-red, the borders chased with green gold ribbon-twist enclosing pellets, the side panels divided by four pilasters chased with scrolling lyre motifs, the cover set with an oval enamel miniature of a lady, in red dress with high standing white collar, pearl necklace, red ribbon in her upswept curled fair hair, within a coin pattern gold border
