Slightly tapering flattened rectangular shagreen-covered case with rounded sides and slightly arched top and flat base, the obverse and reverse of cover and base set with South Staffordshire enamels of riverside scenes within chased gold mounts, the base mounts surmounted by an eagle, the reeded gold mounts with hinge at the short end, gold button pushpiece, the gilt-metal inside fitted with steel scissors with gold handles, hinged gold ruler, hinged steel compass with gold handle, gold tweezers, a gold ear spoon, reeded gold pencil holder with pencil, gold spoon, gold handle with independent cap to contain two knives, a bodkin, a fork and a corkscrew, two-leaved tablets
