A George III oak, mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, late 18th century
The hood with swan neck pediment and outset front-fluted columns, with conforming three-quarter length pilasters flanking an arched trunk door, the plinth with raised panel and canted angles, on bracket feet, the 14in. wide white dial with strawberry spandrels to the Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, with birds to the centre, subsidiary seconds ring (rubbed away, hand lacking), arch date aperture, with rolling moon to the arch, with falseplate stamped Osborne's MANUFACTORY BIRMINGHAM to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 91½in. (232.5cm.) high
