A George III oak, mahogany cross-banded and line inlaid longcase clock, early 18th century
The hood with brass-capped swan-neck cresting and outset front-fluted columns, short arched trunk door flanked by three-quarter length fluted pilasters, with panel below, on plinth also with raised plinth, the 13in. wide Arabic white dial painted with a peacock to the arch, the centre with date arch and signed Burton Utoxeter (rubbed), later brass hands, pinned directly to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 84½in. (215cm.) high
