With drum-head hood, the rectangular trunk door with lock to the top and flanked by plain pilasters, with panel below, on plinth with raised panel and wavy skirting, raised on bracket feet, the adapted cut-away 12in diameter brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre subsidiary silvered seconds ring and date box, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell; case associated to dial and movement, dial reduced, case first quarter 19th century, dial and movement late 18th century -- 78½in. (2o1cm.) high
