The stepped top hood with pilasters, rectangular trunk door, on plain stepped plinth, the 10¼in. square brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman dial with small Arabic five minutes and cross half hour markers, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and date box, signed along the lower edge John Martin, with falseplate stamped R. HIPKISS to the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell; composite, case, dial and movement associated, case late 18th century, dial and movement circa 1690 -- 76½in. (194cm.) high
