A George III oak longcase clock, circa 1790
The hood with stepped top and outset reeded columns, with dentil mouldings above the arched trunk door and three-quarter length reeded pilasters beside it, the stepped plinth with raised panel, the 12½in. square cut-away brass dial with scroll spandrels to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, with scroll engraving to the centre with subsidiary seconds ring (hand lacking) and date arch, signed Jno. Roberts, steel hands, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 80½in. (204cm.) high
