Oblong, with curved ends, the hinged cover incorporating mother-of-pearl calender dials for days, months, phases of the moon, and hours of sunrise and sunset, one dial engraved with the signs of Zodiac, engraved with scrolls, foliage, trumpeting cherubs and inscriptions, the reverse engraved with the abduction of Helen, marked on interior

The Dutch inscription indicates that this box was a perpetual calendar showing Easter until the year 1800.
