First recognised by Professor Julius Held, the sheet is dated by Professor Reznicek to circa 1606; he connects it with the series of Christ and the Apostles in which the apostles are portrayed as Dutch fisherfolk, (Reznicek, op. cit., nos. 50-62) and with the series of peasant studies of the same year (R. 181-191).
