marked with the Cyrillic initials of Fedor Rückert, Moscow, circa 1890
Oblong, the front depicting the Queen of Clubs and the back the Knave of Spades in medieval costume on white ground within stylized floral and scroll border, the sides and hinged cover with stylized floral and foliate scolls, the cover with the suits as cornerpieces, on pale blue ground, the base engraved with the date 'Dec 25th 1901', with twisted ropework edges, gilt interior, marked under base
