This panel was probably originally made for a horse harness. A jewelled example with very similar lion's head and crenellated upper band, clearly dateable to the Nasrid period due to the technique employed, is in the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (Dodds, Jerrilynn D. (ed.): Al Andalus, the Art of Islamic Spain, New York, 1992, no.67, p.297).
