Central Iran, two dated AH 584 1285-6 AD
Each of eight-pointed stellar form, the white centre of one with a seated figure below a large architectural form probably representing a tent with inscription band, a second with a hare against a flower reserved against a lustre ground with octagonal surround, and three further examples with animal, floral and geometric designs, all within cursive inscription borders between blue and lustre stripes, three with repaired points, two intact

Lot Essay

The inscription on the central tile contains a quatrain in Persian and a couplet from the Shahnama of Firdawsi. It is dated Rajab 684/September 1285.
The top tile contains a quatrain in Persian with two couplets, one from the Shahnama of Firdawsi. It is dated Rabi' I 680/June-July 1281.
The left hand tiles contains verses from the Shahnama of Ferdowsi.
The right hand tile contains the same Persian quatrain as lot 73, a couplet from the Shahnama of Firdawsi and is dated Rabi' I 689/March-April 1290.
The bottom tile contains a quatrain in Persian.
