The eight-pointed star with a central design of radiating floral and arabesque motifs linked by scrolling strapwork reserved against a scrolling lustre ground, in a border of continuous inscripion, the reverse with a bold naskh inscription, one corner restored

Lot Essay

On the reverse the number "six hundred and forty-two" is written in full in a contemporaneous hand.
The inscription on the front is a narrative with "Shaykh Junayd" in Persian prose quoting Arabic phrases.
