Ugo Zannoni (d. 1919) studied, taught, and worked in Milan. He actively participated in the various art expositions held in Italy with great success. Students looked to Zannoni as a teacher who skillfully represented the grace, freshness and innocence of youth in his sculpture, a talent clearly evident in the present model.
A larger example of the present model sold Christie's London, 28 January 1988, lot 207 (£7,150).
