A Berlin chocolate-cup, cover and trembleuse stand
Circa 1775-80, underglaze blue sceptre marks to cups and saucers, various puce painter's marks
The cup painted with the initial G in gilt on a pale-grey ground surmounted by a garland of blue flowers tied with a green striped ribbon and supported by a putto on clouds flanked by two flower-sprays, the saucer and domed cover with bouquets including a yellow and a pink rose, the borders with alternate pink scale-pattern panels and gilt diaper-pattern and flowerheads, the saucer with pierced gilt line gallery, the cup with entwined foliage handle, the domed cover with flower finial
