Lot Essay

This settee has the unusual feature of a 'double cabriole' leg, characteristic of Irish 18th Century furniture. There is a pair of side tables with this leg in the collection of the Earl of Meath at Killruddery, Co. Wicklow.
The faceted pad foot and waved stretcher with pegging at the joins are also Irish characteristics.
