The hemispherical bowl with trough spout and pierced lug below the rim opposite, decorated on the interior and exterior with short paired red wavy lines, repaired, 7 5/8 in. (19.4 cm.) diam.; a similar ware juglet, 3 7/8 in. (9.8 cm.) high; a Red-on-Black Painted Ware jug with spherical body and small ring handle at base of neck, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high; three others, similar, with strap handles joining the flaring rim to shoulder, glaze worn, slight repair and restoration, 8 in. (20.3 cm.) high max.; and seven Handmade White Painted Ware vessels with orange painted linear decoration, comprising a hemispherical bowl with 'wishbone' handle, 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) diam.; another with vertical strap handle, 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) diam.; three other bowls, with horizontal handles, one with repair, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) diam. max.; a beak-spouted jug with pierced decorative lugs, 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) high; and a Red Ware flask, 4 1/8 in. (10.8 cm.) high, all Middle Bronze Age, 1900-1650 B.C. (13)

The Art of Ancient Cyprus, p. 30, pl. 22 (items one and two), p. 51, pl. 49 (items three to five), p. 31, pl. 24d (item seven) and p. 71, pl. 121a (item eight).

The first two items are rare examples of an unusual ware, their decoration crudely painted and thought to be a precursor to Red-on-Black Painted Ware. Desmond Morris makes the suggestion that they should be classified as Proto-Red-on-Black.
