THREE SEVRES BLEU NOUVEAU CUPS AND SAUCERS (GOBELET 'BOUILLARD' ET SOUCOUPE, 1ERE GRANDEUR)
Blue interlaced L's flanked by Y and blue painter's mark for Bouillat, père, puce interlaced L's placed over the lower portion of the blue mark and gilder's mark for Boulanger to each piece, various incised marks
Each painted with a still life of vases of flowers and of fruit on a marble ledge reserved within a gilt ciselé band on the bleu nouveau ground richly gilt with a band of foliate scrolls and with a narrower band of foliate scrolls and stylized flowerheads below
2 3/8in. (6.1cm.) high, the cup; 5½in. (14cm.) diam., the saucer (6)

Lot Essay

The present cups and saucers are very much in the spirit of the decoration on the following lot, a plate from a dipolomatic service presented by Louis XVI to the Ambassador from Spain to the French court.
