Lot Essay

See note for previous lot. Generally, cups and saucers are not part of larger dinner or dessert services. But it is interesting to note that the present cip and saucer are of the same date and painted by the same hand as the plate from the Zieseniss Collection that was identified as probably from the Du Barry service and was pre-empted by the Musée nationale de la céramique at the sale last December.
