The écuelle with blue crowned interlaced L's enclosing date letters cc for 1780, painter's mark for Mme. Gérard, gilder's mark for Vincent, le jeune; the stand with similar marks in purple, the gilder's mark in gold
The wide border painted on the yellow ground with shaded puce and pink foliate scrolls crossing to form heart-shaped cartouches enclosing birds in flight, enclosed between gilt ribbons tooled with diagonal stripes and zig-zag and a further band of gilt laurel, the gilding purposely different shades of gold, gilt line rims
3¾in. (9.4cm.) high and 5 1/8in. (12.9cm.) wide overall, the ecuelle; 6½in. (16.6cm.) diam., the stand (2)
