Circa 1728, blue crossed swords mark, gilder's 3. to both
Of tapering conical form on a spreading foot moulded with gilt gadroons, painted in the manner of J.G. Höroldt with a continuous scene of Orientals at vaious pursuits, including taking tea, on a terrace with an ornamental fence, flowering shrubs and birds and insects in flight, above an iron-red double line border and below a gilt Laub- und Bandelwerk border, a similar border to the interior below a gilt band rim, the shallow domed cover with two vignettes of Orientals on terraces about a gilt knop finial and within paired concentric iron-red circles and a similar gilt border

The description should read: A MEISSEN CHINOISERIE BEAKER AND A COVER. Although from the same service as the beaker, the cover is most likely that of the teapot from the service of which both were originally a part.
