Allinson was born in London and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art between 1910-12, where he won a Scholarship.

Cumberland Place runs between Cumberland Terrace and Chester Terrace, the most splendid of all Nash's terraces in Regent's Park, built between 1826 and 1828. After bombing in the Second World War the terraces were reconstructed behind the original facades.
