2o (390 x 320 mm). Engraved title, contents leaf and 63 full-page engraved maps, contemporary outline color (some slight staining at upper corners and occasional soiling). Original publisher's half calf, marbled boards, morocco label on upper cover (a bit rubbed). Provenance: Frank W. Hoopes (pencil signature on front flyleaf) -- Anonymous owner (sold Sotheby's London, 10 December 1998, lot 114).

A fine, and rare, atlas by David Burr, who was appointed topographer of the United States Post Office prior to the completion of this work. Burr also distinguished himself with his Atlas of the State of New York (1829) and his American Atlas (1839) both of which were published under the auspices of the U.S. Post Office.
