possibly English, struck with several fleur-de-lys marks and two later Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Cylindrical tapering grey-brown agate étui with hinged convex top, the cover and base bordered by a gold mount with stamped and engraved sheaf decoration, the cap centred by an engraved floral gold rosette attached with a silver-mounted rose-cut diamond, the front side with similar silver-gilt rosette, a rose-cut diamond set pushpiece above, the base set with an octagonal gold matrix engraved with scrolling mirrored monogram 'BM' surmounted by cherubs and a heart, surrounded by the motto 'PRENES GARDE DE LE PERDRE'
