Lot Essay

The present view of Sydney Harbour appears to be loosely based on an engraving after Richard Read Junior which was published in the Gentleman's Magazine, May 1824, (for which see T. McCormick, First Views of Australia, 1788-1825..., Chippendale, 1987, p. 227, pl. 186.)
