A New Description of England and Wales, with the Adjacent Islands, London: for H. Moll [and others], 1724. 2° (347 x 220mm.). Title printed in red and black, 50 engraved maps, 48 with vignettes and coins in side-borders, 3 folding. (Map of Kent very slightly defective at fold). Contemporary panelled calf (slightly rubbed, hinges rather worn).
FIRST EDITION. Brunet comments that a device illustrated in the map opposite p. 285 (West Riding of Yorkshire) bears a resemblance to a guillotine. It was the preferred method of execution in Halifax at the time. Brunet III, 1816; Chubb CLX.
