A George III silver tea-caddy with metal liner
Mark of James Mince and William Hodgkins II, London, 1780
Oval, with beaded borders, the interior lined with metal divider, with lock and key, the hinged cover with a border of wrigglework and bright-cut engraved flowers and vines, with detachable foliage and pineapple finial, the body engraved with a ribbon-tied lozenge of arms with ribbon-tied berried branches beneath, the back later engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked on base and inside cover

gross 20oz. (630gr.)
The later arms are those of Botfield impaling Leighton for Beriah Botfield (1807-1863) and his wife Isabella (d.1911), second daughter of Sir Baldwin Leighton 7th Bt. (1805-1871) of Loton Park, co. Salop, whom he married in 1858.
