A LATE 19TH CENTURY 6¼IN. RADIUS VERNIER SEXTANT BY COOMBES
with oxidised brass three circle frame, the polished brass arc signed and numbered J. Coombes, Optician and Admiralty Agent, Devonport 4439 with inset silvered scale divided 5°- 0°- 160°, vernier with swivel magnifier and diffuser and engraved with name S.E. Deacon, R.N, sighting tubes, seven shades, two mirrors and beechwood handle, contained within fitted box with accessories and test certificate for 1890 -- 10in. (25.5cm.) square approx.
