A French brass small tambour timepiece
B. Bouchas a Balance. Dated 1558
The movement with circular brass plates secured by three square-section pillars riveted to the back plate and pinned to the front plate, brass barrel with long narrow fusee, verge escapement with plain steel balance, brass wishbone spring and securing pieces to the back plate, the case with Roman chapter ring and brass hand within a foliate engraved bezel, later dial centre, the base cover engraved with a cartouche signed B. BOVCHAS. A. BALANCE. 1558
