The hood with moulded shallow arch top and surmounted by a waisted pedestal with brass ball finial, the side panels with moulded frames, the front door with Dutton type mouldings and flanked by reeded and chamfered front angles, the trunk door also with shallow arch top and with moulded frame, on plinth with raised panel and on stepped skirting, the 10in. wide silvered and engraved dial with Roman chapter ring, with subsidiary seconds ring and square date aperture to the centre, blued steel hands, signed in the arch Mudge & Dutton Fleet Street, the five pillar movement with thick brass plates, with anchor escapement and rack strike on bell, the iron rod pendulum with lenticular brass bob and silvered calibrated rating nut

With its elegant proportions and studiously simple design the present clock epitomises the best of London clockmaking of the period. The case is notably small and yet remains imposing. Amongst its distinctive features are the 'Dutton' mouldings which adorn the hood door frame.
