A Canton enamel shell shaped box and hinged cover
18th century
modelled as a clam shell, painted to the flattened underside with sprays of lilies and peonies, the inside of the cover with insects amongst fruiting gourd stems and flower sprays, gilt metal rim mounts -- 3in. (7.6cms) wide, (some cracking, slight restoration to interior).
