GERSON, Jean. Opera, Basel: Nicolaus Kesler, 12-21 March 1489. 3 volumes and index in 2, 2° (301 x 205mm). 188 + 229 (of 230, lacks the final blank) + 317 (of 320, Ii3 & 6 supplied in contemporary manuscript and lacks the final blank) + 46 leaves (including the final blank), 57 lines and headline, double columns, gothic letter, full-page woodcut, repeated twice, of the pilgrim and his dog in front of the castle, a little music printing on Ff4v of volume III, woodcut device at end of same volume, capitals and rubrics supplied in red, index bound before volume one. (A little worming in upper margins of volume II touching a few headlines, worming in top fore-corners of quires Aa & Bb in vol. III affecting pagination and more severe worming in the same vol. from quire Pp to the end affecting text, 3 margins, one in index, the other 2 at beginning of volume one slightly defective without loss of text, a few short tears in the margins, one or two touching text, a few stains). 19th-century half vellum, red labels on spines, 2 German vellum manuscript paste down leaves bound in at beginning of volume III and a half-leaf from the same manuscript at beginning of volume one. (A little discoloured, short splits in hinges). Provenance: Tachau, Bohemia, parish library (17-18th-century inscriptions).
