A 1¾-inch (4.5cm.) diameter miniature terrestrial globe made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores, the equatorial and ecliptic ungraduated, the former coloured red, the continents coloured in outline and delicately shaded in red, blue, yellow, orange and green and showing rivers, some place names, a few cities, and the Great Wall of China, Antarctica with no land shown, Australia labelled NEU HOLLAND (one small section of gore missing within the Antarctic Circle) in the original blue paper-covered card box, the lid with a gilt-paper surround and the title in German of "The Earth and Its Inhabitants" (areas of paper loss, corners taped, the lid lacking half the title paper and one side of gilt paper) a paper strip pasted the inside base of the box showing thirty-two of the Earth's inhabitants in attractively hand-coloured engraved illustrations, each titled with the nationality of its subject in English, French and German (a very neat tear to the middle of the Egyptian), the box -- 2in. (5.1cm.) high
