A mid-19th-Century, probably apprentice, spirit fired stationary steam set
built by J. Badley and comprising a riveted copper centre flue boiler with fittings including level test cocks, main stop valve and weight and lever safety valve, the crown stamped J. Bradley, the burner with six wicks; and a twin cylinder horizontal mill engine with brass cylinders ½in. bore x ½in. stroke, square cylinder head nuts, studded stuffing boxes, forked connecting rods and centrally mounted curved spoked flywheel, the whole mounted on a metal bed supported on four decoratively turned brass pillars, finished in green and polished brightwork
