A Böttger globular teapot and cover
Circa 1720, the decoration perhaps Dutch
Decorated in the Kakiemon palette in turquoise, red, blue and yellow and enriched with gilding, the short tapering spout and loop handle with flowerheads and stylised clouds, each side of the body with exotic birds in flight to the left of flowering branches, a flower-spray beneath the spout, between borders of up and down-turned stiff-leaves at the footrim and rim, the domed cover with three small flowering branches about a band of radiating down-turned stiff leaves and red and gilt bud finial (slight wear to enamels and gilding, minute chip to tip of spout and upper rim, area of chipping to one side of cover, slight chipping to finial)
