A Meissen blue-ground two-handled beaker and saucer
Circa 1740, blue crossed swords marks, Dreher's / to footrim of saucer
Painted with figures in extensive wooded landscapes with cattle and sheep beneath cloudy skies within elaborate gilt scroll quatrefoil cartouches flanked by a gilt dog, an owl, a squirrel, a rabbit and birds, the double-scroll handles lightly enriched in gilding, the saucer with Böttger-lustre panels to the cartouche, within elaborate Gitterwerk borders (one handle broken and restored, some minute wear to gilding of saucer)
