Probably originally a patch-lock, with rebrowned two-stage twist barrel signed on the top flat, recessed patent breech with pierced platinum plug and two gold lines, engraved tang and signed flat lock decorated with foliage, flat hammer (a working replacement) with detachable striker, finely figured bird's eye maple half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guard decorated with a sea monster and with pineapple final, silver escutcheon with owner's initials, engraved silver fore-end cap, and brass-mounted ramrod (iron parts with scattered minor pitting), London proof marks
