A DOG-LOCK BLUNDERBUSS
Predominantly third quarter of the 18th Century
With earlier belled brass barrel in two stages, the breech section octagonal then polygonal and with raised stepped ramp at the rear, the top flat engraved with foliage, engraved iron tang, border engraved bevelled lock decorated with foliage, the inside with the initials 'RB' (dog catch and cock retaining screw replaced), walnut full stock (minor defects) with raised apron at the barrel tang, brass mounts including trigger-guard with first pattern acorn finial, engraved butt-plate and side-plate, oval escutcheon surmounted by a scallop-shell, and brass-capped ramrod with worm (iron parts with some minor surface pitting), London proof marks
