A CASED PAIR OF 40-BORE SAW-HANDLED FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS

With earlier rebrowned swamped octagonal sighted barrels each signed in silver on the top flat and inlaid with silver scrollwork (some silver missing), platinum-lined touch-holes, each breech with brass-lined maker's stamp (Neue Støckel 621), engraved tangs each fitted with two-leaf folding back-sights, signed flat border engraved detented locks decorated with martial trophies, and each with roller, rainproof pan, and safety-catch (cock retaining screws and one safety-catch replaced), figured walnut half-stocks (repaired), chequered butts, engraved iron mounts including trigger-guards with pineapple finial, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons and fore-end caps, set triggers, and later horn-tipped ramrods (iron parts worn and with scattered surface pitting): in a relined mahogany case with some accessories, and flush- fitting carrying handle
