A Victorian ebonised and brass-mounted quarter-chiming Directors' clock, circa 1874
The bell top case with flaming urn finials and silk-backed sound frets to the pediment, with radiant mask frets below the side handles and caryatid mounts to each angle, quarter frets to the front door with cast frame, with presentation plaque date 1874 to the front, on scroll feet, the brass dial wit hfoliate spandrels to a silvered Roman chapter ring, matted centre, subsidiary strike/silent and regulation rings in the arch flanking a silvered plaque signed CHARLES FRODSHAM CLOCK MAKER TO THE QUEEN 84 STRAND NO.1289, the substantial triple chain fusee movement with quarter chimes on four bells and hour strike on a further bell, with repeat signature and pendulum holdfast to the back plate -- 27¼in. (69cm.) high
